The Orange BAFTA Awards are just around the corner, and Absolute Radio is getting right behind Britain's biggest movie ceremony.
We're backing the only award that's voted for by the public, the
Orange Rising Star Award. The gong celebrates a young actor or actress from any country who has 'demonstrated exceptional talent and ambition and who has already begun to capture the imagination of the British public as a film star in the making'.
Winners from past years include
Shia Lebeouf (Transformers, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull),
James McAvoy (Atonement, Wanted), and
Eva Green (Casino Royale).
Absolute Radio presenter and host of our weekly
Movies Extra Podcast Ben Jones has been asked to join the jury that will decide the shortlist for Orange Rising Star Award nominees, which will be announced on January the 7th.
Ben says: "It's great to be getting behind such an important part of the Orange BAFTAs as the Rising Star Award. We've had some fantastic winners in the past, all of whom are household names now, and the best thing about this one is that it's voted for by the public. There's so much talent to choose from this year and I'm looking forward to whittling down all the potential nominees to a brilliant shortlist".
